Innovate for Employment, implemented by StartHub Africa in collaboration with the Embassy of France. The project aims to support agile and innovative training for better employability and integration into the labor market of youth and women in Uganda.

Empowering Youth and Women: Through the program, we champion agile and innovative training to enhance the employability of Uganda’s youth and women. By forging strong partnerships between universities and enterprises, we create a dynamic bridge to the labor market, facilitating seamless integration and career advancement.

Addressing a Growing Need: Uganda witnesses a staggering influx of 700,000 young job seekers annually, yet only 12,000 formal job opportunities are advertised. Innovate for Employment confronts this disparity head-on by nurturing a talent pool that aligns with the evolving needs of the job market.

Bridging the Skills Gap: Enterprises grapple with the challenge of finding the right talent. Our program recognizes the vital importance of practical and soft skills, offering tailored support to equip graduates with the competencies needed to excel in today’s competitive professional landscape.

Outcomes & Targets

Enhancing Private Sector Talent Acquisition: Innovate for Employment aims to strengthen the private sector’s ability to connect with and recruit high-caliber talent from Ugandan universities. Through the program, we aim to foster valuable collaborations that help companies access the best and brightest, driving growth and innovation.

Fostering Practical Industry Exposure: We aim to provide university students and recent graduates with invaluable hands-on experience within the industry. By bridging the gap between academia and the workforce, we will empower individuals to enter their careers equipped with practical skills, enhancing their employability.

Cultivating Soft and Innovative Skills: Innovate for Employment is committed to refining university students’ soft skills and fostering innovation capabilities. Through targeted training and mentorship, we aim to ensure that graduates possess not only technical knowledge but also the adaptable and innovative mindset required for success in today’s dynamic job market.
